How Political Sponsorship and Space Resource Endowment Shape the Performance of Makerspace:Evidence from 276 Su Qing C Spaces in Jiangsu Province

Abstract: Makerspace, as a new type of entrepreneurial incubator in Chinese context, has an significant contribution to the implementation of the policies of mass entrepreneurship and innovation. However, many makerspaces still face many problems, and how to solve those problems has become an important academic topic. Based on the organizational sponsorship theory, in this paper, the mediating mechanism of political sponsorship affecting makerspace performance, and the moderating effect of resource endowment between them were explored. An empirical test was conducted by using the data of 276 Su Qing C makerspaces from Jiangsu Province. The results show that there is a positive relationship between political sponsorship and makerspace performance, and the buffering effect and bridging effect plays a mediating effect between political sponsorship and makerspace performance. Resource endowment negatively moderates the effect of buffering effect but positively moderates the effect of bridging effect on the makerspace performance. The conclusion will help to deepen the understanding of political antecedents of makerspace performance, and has an important implications for empowering makerspace through policy design.

摘要: “众创空间”作为中国情境下新型创业孵化器的一种尝试,为“大众创业、万众创新”的双创理念落地贡献了巨大的力量。但许多众创空间仍然面临着成果不佳的问题,基于此,从组织赞助理论出发,着重探究了政治赞助对众创空间成果的塑造作用,并论证了资源禀赋在这一过程中的调节作用。基于江苏省276家苏青C空间样本数据,进行实证检验。结果表明:政治赞助能够积极影响众创空间绩效,且缓冲效应和桥接效应在两者之间起到中介作用;资源禀赋负向调节了缓冲效应对众创空间绩效的塑造作用,正向调节了桥接效应对众创空间绩效的塑造作用。研究结论将有助于理解众创空间成果的政治前因,对通过政策设计积极赋能创客空间具有重要启示作用。
