  • Conference Announcement: 2026 Joint Annual Conference of the Collaborative Innovation and Management Branch of the Management Science and Engineering Society of China and the Production and Operations Management Committee of the Chinese Society for Management Modernization, & the 21st Annual Meeting of the Yangtze River Delta University Management Science and Engineering Discipline Development Collaboration Network

The "Collaborative Innovation and Management Branch of the Management Science and Engineering Society of China" is one of the first secondary branches under the Management Science and Engineering Society of China. It originated from the "Yangtze River Delta University Management Science and Engineering Discipline Development Collaboration Network," founded by scholars including Professor Chen Hongmin (Shanghai Jiao Tong University), Professor Wu Xiaobo (Zhejiang University), and Professor Zhong Weijun (Southeast University). The branch aims to advance cutting-edge academic research in the field of management science and engineering, enhance the comprehensive development of the discipline and talent cultivation capabilities, and provide a platform for academic exchange among scholars and experts from universities and industries. The "Production and Operations Management Committee of the Chinese Society for Management Modernization" is a core subsidiary organization of the Chinese Society for Management Modernization and one of the most influential academic bodies in the field of production and operations management in China. This annual conference is jointly hosted by the Collaborative Innovation and Management Branch (MSESC) and the Production and Operations Management Committee (CSMM), and organized by the School of Economics and Management, Southeast University. The conference will be held on July 3–5, 2026 in Nanjing. The Academic Committee will select a number of outstanding papers for recommendation to the fast-track review channels of journals such as the Journal of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, Chinese Journal of Systems Management, Frontiers of Science and Technology of Engineering Management, and Journal of University of Science and Technology of China.

    I. Conference Theme

Collaborative Innovation and Management in the New Form of Intelligent Economy

    II. Conference Background

The year 2026 marks a critical starting point for the comprehensive implementation of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) and the transition toward high-quality development. In March 2026, the Government Work Report introduced for the first time the concept of "creating a new form of intelligent economy," signaling that cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and industrial internet are moving from instrumental applications to systemic restructuring, becoming core forces reshaping industrial structures, organizational forms, and governance logics. As key academic platforms for the development of management science and engineering, the Collaborative Innovation and Management Branch (MSESC) and the Production and Operations Management Committee (CSMM) have consistently remained at the academic forefront, served national strategic needs, and continuously promoted disciplinary innovation and industry-education integration, providing solid intellectual support for major national strategies and high-quality development. As the new journey of the 15th Five-Year Plan begins, the conference, under the theme "Collaborative Innovation and Management in the New Form of Intelligent Economy," brings together renowned scholars, industry experts, and enterprise representatives from across China, with a special focus on the Yangtze River Delta region (Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui). The conference will focus on new mechanisms of collaborative innovation and new pathways of management transformation in the era of the intelligent economy, exploring the frontier directions in which management science and engineering can serve national strategies.

Currently, intelligent technologies represented by artificial intelligence, industrial internet, robotics, and big data are rapidly penetrating all areas of the economy and society, driving profound changes in production methods, organizational forms, and innovation paradigms. This year's Government Work Report's first-time mention of "creating a new form of intelligent economy" highlights the urgent need to promote deep integration of intelligent technologies with the real economy and to build a new economic system characterized by data as a key production factor, collaboration as an important feature, and innovation as a core driver. In this context, the manufacturing industry faces the multiple challenges of smart manufacturing upgrades, supply chain resilience enhancement, and green and low-carbon transformation, while the service industry is undergoing model restructuring through personalized services, platform governance, and human-machine collaboration. As a result, enterprise production and operations management are taking on new forms and patterns. The Yangtze River Delta, as one of China's most economically dynamic and innovative regions, bears the important mission of pioneering the new form of intelligent economy and creating a model for regional collaborative innovation. This conference will delve into new theories, methods, and ideas in management science and engineering under the new form of the intelligent economy, explore effective pathways for intelligent economic innovation in the process of Yangtze River Delta integration, contribute wisdom and strength to high-quality regional and national development, and provide Chinese solutions to support the development of the global intelligent economy.
