Call for Papers: The 9th Conference on Smart Manufacturing Systems Engineering & Forum on "Smart Manufacturing Systems Engineering Innovation Driven by Industrial Agents"
I. Conference Introduction
The 9th Conference on Smart Manufacturing Systems Engineering is a high-level academic symposium in the field of smart manufacturing, sponsored by the Systems Engineering Society of China and organized by the Smart Manufacturing Systems Engineering Technical Committee of the Systems Engineering Society of China, together with the Tung Hao-wan Institute of Intelligent Management and Logistics (Sino-US Global Logistics Institute) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Professor Yang Shanlin, Honorary Director of the Technical Committee, serves as the Honorary Chair of the conference. The conference will be held on July 30–31, 2026 in Shanghai, under the theme "Smart Manufacturing Systems Engineering Innovation Driven by Industrial Agents." The conference will invite several esteemed academicians and distinguished experts, including recipients of national talent programs, to attend and deliver invited speeches. In light of the new stage characterized by the deep integration of digitalization, networking, and intelligence in manufacturing, the conference aims to bring together the latest research findings and industrial practices in the field of smart manufacturing systems engineering, and to facilitate in-depth discussions on the theoretical foundations, methodological systems, and engineering implementation of industrial agents within manufacturing systems. The conference will establish a high-quality academic exchange platform, promote research advances in modeling, optimization, verification, and evaluation of complex manufacturing systems, drive the development of a verifiable, reproducible, and scalable engineering and technical system for smart manufacturing, and provide theoretical support and application demonstrations for high-quality development of the manufacturing industry and the advancement of a new model of industrialization.

4.1 Topics of Interest (including but not limited to)
Smart manufacturing operations management, intelligent logistics and supply chain management, big data optimization and artificial intelligence, theory and methods of intelligent scheduling, digital twin and cloud manufacturing management, smart factories and process optimization, smart manufacturing systems engineering, smart manufacturing and digital economy, internet platform operations management, smart energy management, data-driven decision theory and methods, resource allocation and sharing in smart manufacturing, intelligent warehouse management, optimization and coordination of industrial manufacturing systems, smart manufacturing service operations and organization, etc.
4.2 Submission Requirements
(1) The paper must be original and must not have been published in any domestic or international journal or conference.
(2) The paper should demonstrate certain innovation and forward-looking perspective. Review articles, technical and methodological papers, and applied research papers are all welcome.
(3) The paper must not involve any confidential information. If any potentially confidential content exists, the author must provide a non-disclosure certificate (with the official seal of their institution); otherwise, the submission will not be accepted.
(4) Papers may be written in either Chinese or English, and may be formatted in Word or LaTeX. There is no word limit.
(5) If authors intend to submit their papers to journals such as Frontiers of Science and Technology of Engineering Management, Chinese Journal of Systems Management, Operations Research and Management Science, Industrial Engineering and Management, or Industrial Engineering Journal, the formatting should follow the respective journal's requirements.
(6) All papers should be submitted electronically via email to: csesme9th@163.com. Please indicate "Submission to the 9th Conference on Smart Manufacturing Systems Engineering" in the email subject line. The email body should state the journal to which the paper is intended to be recommended (if any) and the paper should be formatted accordingly. If no journal is specified, please also indicate this. (7) Important date: Papers and conference registration forms must be submitted by June 30, 2026.
4.3 High-Quality Paper Exchange and Requirements
(1) Accepted papers will have the opportunity to be presented in parallel sessions at the conference.
(2) The conference will establish a High-Quality Paper Exchange Committee. Papers presented at the conference will be considered for recommendation to journals such as Frontiers of Science and Technology of Engineering Management, Chinese Journal of Systems Management, Operations Research and Management Science, Industrial Engineering and Management, and Industrial Engineering Journal, and will enter a fast-track review process to expedite publication.
