Academic Workshop

  • Cases serve as a vital medium for theorizing and systematizing practical issues, and as a crucial pathway for integrating high-level research, education, and practice. On March 24, 2021, the inaugural meeting of the China Case Study Journal Alliance and the High-end Seminar on Case Construction, co-hosted by the Development Center for Degree and Graduate Education (CDGDC) and the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University, was held at Tsinghua University. The conference proposed initiatives to "establish specialized columns for case studies to strengthen research with high theoretical value" and to "lead the paradigm shift in China’s philosophy and social sciences, fostering a favorable environment for Chinese case studies."

Earlier, on December 8, 2018, the Industry Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was established. Adhering to the guiding principle of "rooting in Chinese management practice, promoting socio-economic development, and refining economic management theories," the Institute is committed to advancing industry research and creating an academic atmosphere of "integrating horizontal and vertical knowledge with practice," thereby forming a virtuous cycle between practice, academia, and teaching.

To thoroughly implement President Xi Jinping's series of important discourses on philosophy, social sciences, and education, and in active response to the initiatives of the China Case Study Journal Alliance and the development strategy of the Industry Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Journal of Systems & Management has established the "Industry Research and Case Studies" column. We cordially invite high-quality research from scholars and practitioners in the field of management.
