Influence of Energy Intensity on Industrial Green Transformation: from an Innovation Effect Perspective

能源强度对工业绿色转型的影响:创新效应视角

Abstract: At present, the environmental problems caused by the excessive consumption of energy and resources in China are rapidly becoming prominent. Improving energy efficiency is a key to promote the green transformation of industry, ecological construction, and high-quality economic development. Based on super-SBM and the dynamic panel threshold model, this paper focuses on the heterogeneity of green transformation among industrial sectors in China, and introduces innovation effect as threshold variable to further explore the impact of energy intensity on industrial green transformation. The results show that the level of green industrial transformation in China is low, there is a large space for development, and the industry heterogeneity is significant, showing a relatively significant trend of fluctuation during the transformation. It is worth explaining that energy intensity has an obvious innovation effect and heterogeneous threshold effect on China’s industrial green transformation. The low level of innovation effect is not conducive to reducing energy intensity and driving industrial green transformation. With the improvement of innovation effect level and breaking through the “critical point”, energy intensity has played an effective role to a certain extent, and then promoted the green transformation of industry.

摘要: 当前中国能源资源过度消耗所带来的环境问题迅速凸显,提高能源利用率是促进工业绿色转型、推动生态建设与经济高质量发展的关键一环。基于Super-SBM及动态面板门槛模型,文章着重分析了中国工业各行业之间绿色转型存在的异质性差异,并引入创新效应作为门槛变量,进一步探讨能源强度对工业绿色转型的影响关系。研究发现:中国的工业绿色转型水平较低,存在较大发展空间,且行业异质性显著,在转型期间表现出比较显著的波动趋势。值得说明的是,能源强度对于中国工业绿色转型存在明显的创新效应异质门槛作用;较低水平的创新效应并不利于降低能源强度驱动工业绿色转型。而随着创新效应水平的提高并突破“临界点”,在一定程度上有效发挥了能源强度的影响作用,进而推动工业绿色转型。
